[REVIEW] BENTON SHEA BUTTER AND COCONUT BODY LOTION & HAND CREAM

Posted on

Hi everyone! It’s A, how are you today? I hope everything is good and well. Today, I want to talk about Benton Shea Butter and Coconut Body Lotion* and Hand Cream.

A few months ago, I bought Benton Shea Butter and Coconut Hand cream through a friend of P who were traveling South Korea. And not so long after I got it, Benton launched a new body lotion which is also Shea Butter and Coconut line. They had a reviewer event, so entered and got picked to try this new body lotion. So, the hand cream was purchased with my own money and the body lotion was gifted in exchange for an honest review.

Since I had both of them, I decided to review them together to see what’s difference between these two.

I’ll start with the body lotion.

Description :

Benton Shea butter and Coconut Body Lotion contains Ecocert certified Shea Butter, USDA certified Coconut Oil, and 5-Hyaluronic Acid Complex which allow excellent moisturization with a smooth and moist texture. The body lotion has the natural scent of Coconut Oil and does not contain artificial fragrance.

Shea butter prevents drying of skin by forming a moist layer. It can be used by any skin types. 5-Hyaluronic Acid Complex protect your skin step by step, by attracting moisture and caring for your skin. Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Water, Jojoba Seed Oil, and Ceramide NP soothe rough skin and help maintain oil-water balance.

Free of artificial fragrance, silicon oil and PEG surfactants. It is dermatologically tested and free of irritations. All in one body lotion which can be used for the face and body, regardless of gender or age.

Their main ingredients are :

Shea butter : vegetable fat extracted from the nut of shea trees. It moisturizes rough skin, locking moisture in. It’s also knwon as the secret of the beautiful Cleopatra’s Glowing skin.

Coconut Oil : Extracted from the kernel of coconuts, prevents moisture from escaping, allowing dry skin to become smooth.

5-Hyaluronic Acid Complex : 5 types of Hyaluronic Acid with different molecular sizes protect & moisturize your skin step by step.

Sodium Hyaluronate (High Molecule) : maintains an outer moisture layer on skin & helps moisturize

Sodium Hyaluronate (Middle Molecule) :  maintain skin’s suppleness

Sodium Hyaluronate (Low Molecule) : hydrates fibers in the skin

Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate : helps hydrate damaged skin

Hyaluronic Acid : Polusaccharides protect skin from the infiltration of harmful external stressors

*Cetearyl Alcohol has ‘alcohol’ in its name, but it is different from volatile ethanol or methanol, derived from plants, cetearyl alcohol functions as an emulsion stabilizer and stores moistures. It’s a stable emulsifying ingredient that smoothens & moisturizes skin.

Packaging :

This is a 250 ml body lotion in a tube with a very convenience nozzle cap. I can easily control the amount of lotion I want to use from this kind of tube.

Textures : This lotion feels really light yet it is very moisturizing. Can you see the amount I put on my hand? I only need that much to moisturize my arms. It looks light but a little goes along the way. This absorbs really quickly and doesn’t leave any greasy feeling at all. Another thing that I like from this lotion is the scent! I can really smell the coconut from it and it smells refreshing.

I like how it feels on my dry skin. It’s moisturizing enough for dry skin and will give more glow to normal skin. Overall, I don’t have any complaint about this product. It says that you can you use it for face too but I haven’t tried it yet.

Moving on to Shea Butter and Coconut Hand Cream. This product has been on my wish list for a long time and finally I bought it! I knew about this product from a Korean beauty show called ‘Get It Beauty’ which is a show that reviews skincare & cosmetic through ingredients analysis. They rank this as one of the best hand cream in South Korea with very ‘safe’ ingredients with strong moisturizing power.

For ingredients, this has quite similar formula to the body lotion. This has more simple ingredients and less moisturizing agent compare to the body lotion. The main ingredients are still Shea Butter and Coconut Oil. But I find the hand cream is more scentless than the body lotion. With the body lotion I can easily smell coconut from it, but with the hand cream I only smell it slightly.

For packaging, it’s also in a tube bottle with a very well designed nozzle. No matter how hard you press the tube, it will only come out little by little so you won’t waste the cream by taking too much from the tube.

Now for texture, it is very easy to see that these two are very different. The left one in the below picture is the hand cream and the right one is the body lotion. The hand cream is thick and creamy and on the other hand the body lotion is more watery. They both really moisturizing and easily absorbs despite the difference of their texture.

I think both of them did a very good job for skin moisturizing without any bad ingredients. Please keep in mind that my skin is very dry and sensitive (I also suffered from eczema), but thankfully it didn’t give bad reaction to my body. Both body lotion and hand cream are my moisturizing product in-between showers. I usually use oil to moisturize my body after shower and a few hours later I applied the Shea Butter and Coconut Body Lotion to areas where my skin is already dry again.

That’s all from me. Are they worth it? for sure! The hand cream cost about 10000 KRW and the body lotion is 22000KRW .

Thanks for reading my post. Have a nice day!
